DC Universe Online or DCUO is an mmorpg by Sony Online Entertainment - Austin. Jim Lee serves as the game's Executive Creative Director, along with Carlos D'Anda, JJ Kirby, Oliver Nome, Eddie Nuñez, Livio Ramondelli, and Michael Lopez. EverQuest developer Chris Cao was the Game Director through launch up to May 2011, but has since stepped down to be replaced by Mark Anderson, previously the Art Director. Shawn Lord is also involved. Geoff Johns is the principal writer.
The game has beautifull graphics and a marvelous fighting system. It features a Non-Targeting-System that allows you to fight multiple enemys at the same time. There are PvP and PvE servers. In both, heroes and villains are in the same area but in the PvP ones you can attack others. There are quests that can be done either in the streets or in dungeons. In most dungeons there are bosses. All bosses are famous DC characters. You choose your mentor from 3 heroes/villains (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman / Joker, Lex Luthor, Circe) they represent 3 different specializations, Tech, Meta and Magic. You can choose one from six different powers (Fire, Ice, Mental, Nature, Sorcery and Gadgets) and also one from three movement modes (Speed, Acrobatics and Flight)
Regardless of the game's nice mechanics and graphics, the playerbase is low, but with the conversion to Free-To-Play it is normal that the playerbase grows alot in the first few weeks, because many people don't want to pay, because there are other alternatives such as Champions Online.
