Tribes Ascend wasn't released yet but it will be a free to play online FPS with graphics and gameplay similar to the popular HALO. This promisses to be a great game and the trailer released gives a quite good impression.
Aika is a free to play mmorpg, from gPotato, heavily based on PvP with Castle Sieges and Realm Battles that can can have more than 2000 people fighting at the same time. The graphics are really good and the environment detail is quite decent too. The game community is not bad and the gameplay seem very interesting. Aika Online offeres you six playable classes:
Another great feature of Aika Online it's the fact that you have to define a PIN (four numbers) for each character that you create which mean that even if anyone find out your account they can't enter the game with your characters because they don't know the PIN.
SMITE wasn't released yet but it will be moba style like League of Legends and Heros of Newerth but in a whole different level. SMITE have awesome graphics with a third person view like a standart mmorpg and your character moves with WASD keys instead of the standard mouse moving. SMITE has several gods to choose from and all of them have great abilities and skin detail. Another great difference is the fact that your base is a minotaur that will figth your enemys when they try to win the game. Also this game uses the very known Unreal 3 engine so probably the game with have some high pc requirements. Currently you can candidate to be a beta tester on the game website. Lets wait for this game to see if it will be as good as it promisses.
DC Universe Online or DCUO is an mmorpg by Sony Online Entertainment - Austin. Jim Lee serves as the game's Executive Creative Director, along with Carlos D'Anda, JJ Kirby, Oliver Nome, Eddie Nuñez, Livio Ramondelli, and Michael Lopez. EverQuest developer Chris Cao was the Game Director through launch up to May 2011, but has since stepped down to be replaced by Mark Anderson, previously the Art Director. Shawn Lord is also involved. Geoff Johns is the principal writer.
The game has beautifull graphics and a marvelous fighting system. It features a Non-Targeting-System that allows you to fight multiple enemys at the same time. There are PvP and PvE servers. In both, heroes and villains are in the same area but in the PvP ones you can attack others. There are quests that can be done either in the streets or in dungeons. In most dungeons there are bosses. All bosses are famous DC characters. You choose your mentor from 3 heroes/villains (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman / Joker, Lex Luthor, Circe) they represent 3 different specializations, Tech, Meta and Magic. You can choose one from six different powers (Fire, Ice, Mental, Nature, Sorcery and Gadgets) and also one from three movement modes (Speed, Acrobatics and Flight)
Regardless of the game's nice mechanics and graphics, the playerbase is low, but with the conversion to Free-To-Play it is normal that the playerbase grows alot in the first few weeks, because many people don't want to pay, because there are other alternatives such as Champions Online.
AVA (Alliance of Valiant Arms) is in my opinion one of the best free to playfps now a days. It has realy nice graphics, good community, awesome gameplay. Also has a lot of diferent weapons, maps and game modes like:
- Demolition - Basically "Search and Destroy"
- Annihilation - Basically "Team Death Match"
- Dominaion - Kinda like "Control Points"
- Escort - You have to escort a tank
- Free for all - Like "One Man Army"
It's one of the few FPS where i didn't saw hackers yet (dosen't mean there aren't any) but it's a positive sign.
The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (commonly abbreviated to LOTRO, LotRO) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game(mmorpg) for Microsoft Windows set in a fantasy universe based upon J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth writings. It takes place during the time period of The Lord of the Rings.
Regular RPG, one of the best out there. You can level up easily up to lvl 30+/-, then you must pay to proceed. 4 races availible : Man, Elf, Dwarf and Hobbit. In total there are seven classes in LotRO, most of them are Race-Locked. Heavily PvE oriented game. Fun to play with friends.
Heroes of Newerth (commonly known as HoN) is a free-to-play science fantasy, action real-time strategy game developed by S2 Games for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The game was heavily inspired by the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne custom map, Defense of the Ancients and is S2 Games' first game title in the Dota genre. The game was released on May 12, 2010 and re-released as a free-to-play game on July 29, 2011.
Along with League of Legends, HoN is on of the first moba of the new generation. It was released almost at the same time as LoL but was "pay to play" so, most people choose LoL over HoN for that reson. Recently it became "free to play" drawing many players to it.
The game's goal is to destroy the other team's base. It's 5v5, third person viewed PvP. An average game lasts about 30 minutes. HoN has many heroes to choose from. In some resolutions it can become hard to target the enemies but it's still good to play.
Combat Arms is one of the best free to play fps currently available. This game has good graphics, very good gameplay with lots of maps and game modes, big community and it's an mmo at the same time because you gain experience from matches to level up and unlock new equipments.
One negative aspect is the fact that the items that you buy, such as weapons and helmet, have and expiration date, so you have to constantly buy equipments for your char.
League of Legends (often abbreviated as LoL, and sometimes as LofL) is an action RTS video game developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows, inspired by the Defense of the Ancients (DotA) map for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. It was first announced on October 7, 2008, and released on October 27, 2009.The game was in a closed beta from April 10, 2009, to October 22, 2009. It then transitioned to open beta until release.
LoL is one of the pioneers of the new M.O.B.A. (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) along with H.O.N.(Heroes Of Newerth). After it's release many games in the same style were made due to the popularity that LoL achieved.
The game's goal is to destroy the other team's base. It's 5v5 , third-person viewed PvP. a regular game lasts about 30 minutes. In general the game is very good, the only downside to it is the constant release of new champions to make money and the matchmaking isnt working very good. They have constant updates and the matchmaking is improving really quickly.
Need for Speed can now be played online for free as an mmo with this new version called Need for Speed World.
But the good part is that the game didn't lose any quality for being free to play and online what is quite good. The game has a great community so you can easily find players to run with and have fun all day.
Some negative aspects i found was the lack of support to gamepads (which sucks) and there is no team queue, which means you and your friends have to join the queue at the same time until you get all in the same room.
FIFA Online 2 HD is the second online free to play edition of this famous soccer game that was launched in 1994. FIFA is a great rival of the famous Pro Evolution Soccer but since PES doesn't have and free online edition, FIFA can be a good solution to play with your friends.
Even being online, the game has some good graphics in HD, big community, good features like using a GamePad and you can play either in “Single Mode” or “Multiplayer Mode”.
In overall I liked the game but i experienced a little bit of lag while playing in “Multiplayer Mode”.
